Letter to you | Aug 2024
Hi there, I hope this finds you well.
I like to rewatch lighthearted and funny films on the plane, and I just found a new one this month to add to my rotation. Well, at least it is new to me — My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I love romcoms, and this one is a classic romcom without miscommunication between the leading roles. The "opa" scenes made me laugh out loud. I did think John Corbett was Ledger for over half of the movie. I still haven't watched 10 Things I Hate About You, though I listened to Can't Take My Eyes Off You too many times and can practically recite the famous poem.
I started a Woobles project this month - a baby shark (doo doo doo doo doo doo). Remember I was telling you about knitting back in March? Thrilled to start another crafting project. It is so satisfying. It is also my first time crocheting, so it is totally new. I finished the shark body and will make the fins and tails next. Cannot wait to see the finished baby shark (doo doo doo doo doo doo).
I finished listening to Laziness Does Not Exist by Devon Price. The author talks about how we chastise ourselves and others because of the laziness lie (think your worth equals your productivity, think your physical or mental exhaustion is not real, think you should always be doing more). He does offer a solution to combat the laziness lie - with compassion and curiosity. Three notes to myself:
Recovery is not wasted time.
Insecurity keeps us productive and profitable.
Resisting "shoulds" makes us strong, not lazy.
August is both an end and a beginning. I look forward to building new routines in September. Hope I can be compassionate and curious.
Yours truly :)
