Letter to You | May 2026

Hi there, I hope this finds you well.

It’s ice cream and froyo season. I feel like froyo is having a bit of a comeback, and I can definitely see the appeal on a hot day. Ice cream can sometimes feel too sweet, and honestly, the best compliment a dessert can receive is: not too sweet.

This month, I took my mom to a few markets and we explored the city together. Someone asked me, “So what kind of relationship do you actually have with your mom?” Honestly, I don’t know. I no longer expect my mom to be my best friend, because she is my parent. And I think it’s a little unfair to expect her to play multiple roles when she has already had to parent me. She is also another adult, with adult problems and her own little world. We celebrated Mother’s Day together. She got two cake pops and she was so happy.

I went to a tapestry weaving class and picked up my finished mug from a hand-building ceramic class. I remember watching a video where someone said that after they started doing ceramics, they wanted to throw out everything that wasn’t made by hand. I definitely understand that urge now. My mug is nowhere near perfect, if there even is such a thing as perfect, but I just adore it so much. Tapestry weaving was such a relaxing experience as well.

It was a hectic month, with a lot of transitions happening all at once, and I fell out of my routines, which is never helpful. I don’t want to say it’s better now, but I do hope it’s better the next time I write to you, which I hope will be very soon.

Yours Truly :)
