Letter to You | Sep 2025

Hi there, I hope this finds you well.

The air has started to shift. It feels crisper, quieter. I can tell my favorite season is on its way. We found a new spot to take walks and watch the sunset, and it fills me with so much joy. The nearby ice cream spots make it even better. Sunset and waffle cones might be my new favorite combination.

This month brought a few new adventures. I tried out two new volunteering opportunities. One of them, unfortunately, gave me a massive allergic reaction and left my sinuses completely blocked. Still, I am glad I gave it a try. I learned some new things, met a few kind people, and spent time in a building with really striking architecture. I think I got caught in a Baader-Meinhof loop. I saw a few photos of the building, then found out I would be volunteering there, and suddenly it started showing up everywhere I looked.

I also finally dropped off some film from last year to be developed and scanned. I always forget exactly what I’ve captured, and seeing the photos for the first time feels like opening a time capsule. There’s something tender about film photos, the way they surprise me and bring old memories rushing back. I think that’s why I love shooting film so much.

At the New York Art Book Fair, there were more people and tables than I expected, and it felt a bit overwhelming at first. But I still enjoyed it. I picked up the first issue of Pleasant Place, a magazine about gardens. This one was all about “Enclosures.” I didn’t know that the word garden originally referred to both the enclosing structure and the enclosed space itself. How cool is that?

So I’ll end here, with something Voltaire once wrote:

“Il faut cultiver notre jardin.”

We must cultivate our garden.

Yours Truly :)
